TCEP Board of Directors Nominations Sought

Have you thought about giving back to TCEP by serving on the state Board of Directors? The time is now to nominate yourself
or someone you think would be a great candidate. 

The Texas College of Emergency Physicians depends upon its fourteen member Board of Directors for its vision and action.
Eleven Regular Board Members serve staggered three-year terms. In addition, 3 members serve one-year terms for a
Young Physician, Resident and Medical Student positions.

There are three Regular Board positions on the 2020 ballot as well as the Young Physician, Resident and Medical Student. 

Obligations of the Board of Director role include (but are not limited to):

  • Attendance and active participation at the TCEP Annual Meeting (Connect)
  • Attendance at quarterly Board of Directors meetings (April 4, summer, fall, Jan 2021)
  • Attendance at ACEP Council Meeting / Scientific Assembly.
  • Attendance at the ACEP Leadership and Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC is strongly encouraged. 

Qualifications to be nominated:

  • Directors must be Active, Life, or Honorary (former Active) Members of the Chapter
  • A Young Physician Director must be an Active Chapter Member less than forty (40) years of age or engaged in the active
    practice of Emergency Medicine for less than ten (10) years shall hold office for one year after his or her election.
  • A Candidate Member Director defined as a Resident in good standing in an accredited Texas Emergency Medicine Residency
    Program shall hold office for one year after his or her election.
  • A Medical Student Member Director defined as a Medical Student in good standing in an accredited Texas Medical School who
    is active in his or her local Emergency Medicine Interest Group shall hold office for one year after his or her election. The
    Medical Student Member Director position is that of a non-voting Member of the Board.

Important deadlines and dates:

Jan 30, 2020:  Deadline to submit the nomination (for self or other member) in writing by email to [email protected].
Subject line: Board Nomination.

Feb. 5 – TCEP Board of Directors vote/approve the Board slate.

Once approved by the Board, the candidates will be sent a survey and request for high resolution photo for publication in the
February issue of EMphasis.
