COMMENTS AND REFLECTIONS
MY TERM: In Texas terms, these were the pioneering "cowboy" days of "ER" (EM) Medicine where men of similar professional and economic interests came together to improve and expand those interests; days of more ER holes to fill than competent physicians to fill them; days of minimal to no malpractice insurance where hospitals had at times to cover us; days of feeble fees and few models or templates. These were the Rodney Dangerfield "no respect" days of non- specialty EM where medical staffs both loved and maligned our presence and moonlighting residents loathed our coming. Therefore, my term as President was like all early TCEP Presidents terms – fast moving, groundbreaking, service expanding, finding our way, but completely necessary. WORDS OF WISDOM: God, family, others, and career–this is both the right order and provide the right balance for the "fulfilled" life.
