Lone Star Survival: Texas Tourniquet Training

Dear TCEP Members,

The Lone Star Survival Board of Directors, along with our hundreds of dedicated medical student and physician volunteers, want to express our sincerest thanks for all your support this past year. Your continued assistance was invaluable as we served our community.

For those of you not familiar with Lone Star Survival, we are a grassroots organization born from Texas medical students who set out to teach our communities about stopping life-threatening bleeds. Our aim is to provide bystanders with basic knowledge about hemorrhage control, so they can assist others until help arrives. Through short, free bystander lessons, our teams of students, physicians, EMTs, and other healthcare professionals use bleeding simulators of our own design to teach the public. Events are held at malls, museums, football games, and other neighborhood hubs, so we can reach our community right where they’re at We aim to increase interest for national campaigns like Stop the Bleed, and at the same time target a public demographic that may not have the time to register for and do a full certification course.

In the Spring of 2018, we held our first small event for 79 participants in Houston. Over the last two and a half years, TCEP has partnered with Lone Star Survival to help us grow. Through support from the TCEP Board of Directors and hardworking members, we were able to expand and hold events through all 12 medical schools in Texas. This past fall alone, we educated and empowered community members at 33 sites spanning from the US Mexico Border in El Paso to the gulf coast in Galveston and everywhere in between.

Over 2,500 of our friends and neighbors are now prepared to assist someone with a life-threatening bleed. You, as a TCEP member, were a part of that.

Thank you again for your support,

The Lone Star Survival Team
