We're looking for members to serve on 2026–2027 committees and task forces! ALL TCEP members are eligible to participate. Non-members interested in volunteering are welcome to join TCEP/ACEP by filling out the online membership application.

Bylaws Committee

  • Goals: Responsible for drafting, maintaining, and proposing amendments to TCEP's bylaws, ensuring they align with governance practices and organizational needs.
  • Time Commitment: 2-6 virtual meetings per year.

CONNECT Planning Committee

  • Goals: Deliver up-to-date and thorough continuing medical education initiatives tailored for emergency physicians across Texas.
  • Time Commitment: 4-6 virtual meetings per year.  

Finance Committee

  • Goals: Supervise the financial management of TCEP's accounts and records, ensuring scrutiny of the association's internal financial controls and protocols.
  • Time Commitment: 4-6 virtual meetings per year.

Membership Committee

  • Goals: Cultivate the expansion and sustenance of TCEP membership while crafting initiatives and offerings to enrich the professional development of emergency physicians. Formulate strategies for member recruitment and retention.
  • Time Commitment: 3-5 virtual meetings per year.

Residency Visit Committee

  • Goals: Analyze the present program to pinpoint areas for enhancement, aiming to raise awareness statewide and bolster member recruitment efforts. Committee will also work to develop content and identify speakers.
  • Time Commitment: Engage in 2-4 virtual meetings per year.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

  1. Annual Research Forum Judge – Two ways to participate:
    • Abstract Reviewer (Virtual | One-Time Commitment) – this work has been completed for this year’s competition, but we can definitely get you involved next year (usually in January)
      1. Review 5–7 submitted abstracts.
      2. Use the provided online scoring rubric to evaluate and submit scores and comments.
      3. Time commitment: judges are given 2-3 weeks to review and complete their judging virtually.
    • Onsite Poster Judge at TCEP CONNECT
      1. Partner with another judge to evaluate assigned poster presentations.
      2. Listen to brief oral presentations and ask questions as needed to ensure fair evaluation.
      3. Time commitment: Approximately 1.5 hours during the Networking Reception at CONNECT 2026 on April 10 (5:30–7 p.m.).
  2. Volunteer Opportunities at CONNECT
    • OlEMpics – Help staff activity stations and cheer on residents as they compete in a fun, interactive series of field games and medical knowledge challenges.
      • Time commitment: 2.5 hours
    • Simulation Workshops – Assist with hands-on simulation sessions held during the CONNECT Medical Student Program.
      • Time commitment: 1.5 hours
