President's Message about COVID-19

Emergency Medicine has always been the front line of health care in this country.

The COVID pandemic has generated new challenges and pressures, but we will continue to hold that line.

I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for the amazing job you do every day, every night, every weekend and every holiday in good times and uncertain.

I would also like to share with you the work that TCEP is doing to support you and your practice of Emergency Medicine.

We want to make it easy to find out information about COVID-19:

  • Our website, texacep.org has links to a variety of informative COVID resources found under the RESOURCES tab on the top of our home page.
  • TCEP continues to be a fierce advocate to ensure sure that we have enough PPE.
  • We continue to press traditional supply channels as well as develop new ones.
  • For example, we are working with the construction industry to facilitate the re-distribution of their stockpiles of masks and gloves for use in emergency departments.
  • TCEP has been working closely with ACEP and TMA to collect and distribute the most current information regarding physician safety and patient treatment protocols.
  • TCEP has also been participating in TMA’s twice daily Incident Command meetings to share the most current and accurate information across the state between key stake holders.

If you have a question or information you would like to share, please email TCEP at [email protected] and we will start a thread on ACEP’s EngagED list serve that will reach every TCEP member.  Once the thread is created, TCEP members can reply/comment via email.

As we work through this crisis, remember that none of us is alone.  We are a huge family united by training, experience and a shared mission.  We will continue to be here for each other, and we will continue to fight.

Be safe and be well. - Hemant
