 TCEP Outstanding Medical Student Award

The Texas College of Emergency Physicians is proud to announce the annual Outstanding Medical Student Award (OMSA).

Purpose: To annually recognize an Outstanding Medical Student graduating from each of the Texas medical schools who demonstrates excellence in emergency medicine Award: $100 scholarship; Custom certificate of recognition; Recognition in EMphasis, the TCEP newsletter; Record in the official OMSA Ledger housed at the TCEP Headquarters; and Recognition at the TCEP Annual Meeting

Eligibility: Awardee must be a medical student in good standing, enrolled in an accredited school or college of medicine in the State of Texas, and graduating with an MD or DO degree in the current academic year who intends to pursue graduate medical education in an emergency medicine (or EM-combined) residency program

Selection: Each school’s Selection Committee will select a single student for recognition. The Selection Committee is to be comprised of any one or more of the school’s emergency medicine clerkship faculty, administrators, or equivalent persons and/or their designees. The criteria for selection are at the discretion of the selection committee, but subject to the approval of the TCEP Board of Directors. 

Nomination: The Selection Committee will be asked to submit the following to TCEP: name of the School, student Awardee’s full and preferred name(s), email address, and telephone number. In addition, the Selection Committee member’s name and contact information must be submitted. Please submit your awardee’s information to link above by March 30, 2014.

Awardees will be formally recognized in a ceremony at the TCEP Annual Meeting, where the award certificate and scholarship check will be given. If the student is unable to attend,  recognition items will be sent to a designated contact at the medical school. Please direct questions to Miles Raizada ([email protected]).
