    3. Convey to us your goals as a Director and what you see as the pressing issues facing Emergency Physicians in the next three years.

The political pressures of ACO’s and Shared Savings models will necessitate that EM Doctors obtain leadership roles in their entities. These EM leaders will need to be able to negotiate appropriate reimbursement rates for their services. This will be a great challenge.

There will be a shift in reimbursement patterns to encourage cost savings as oppose to RVU based reimbursement. Educating and protecting our physicians during this shift will be vital.

The FSED model has placed an increased demand for our services. The increased demand of well-trained physicians has created a supply problem. Addressing this high demand issue will be a challenge for our leadership and specialty.

Legislative changes in the payment of facility and professional fees for HOPDs and FSEDs will have a tremendous direct impact on our specialty and reimbursement rates.
