2017 TCEP Board of Directors
1. Please provide us with your Medical School and Residency Program information including graduation dates. Also include your current positions held with a brief description of your duties.
Texas A&M University College of Medicine 2005
2. Tell us about your involvement in TCEP.
After serving on the TCEP Education Committee I was fortunate to be selected as the Committee Chair and have served in that position since 2014. I serve the Board and all TCEP Members in this capacity. The Education Committee is charged with organizing the annual TCEP Meeting. We are pleased to offer TCEP Connect17 to our members this year!
3. Convey to us your goals as a Director and what you see as the pressing issues facing Emergency Physicians in the next three years.
I would like to continue the evolution of TCEP' focus on issues affecting actively practicing Emergency Physicians in Texas. While we currently enjoy tort reform and a favorable medical liability practice environment, it is essential that we actively continue supporting the protections necessary for Physicians to effectively practice, particularly in the ED environment. I would also like to facilitate increased dialogue in our College so that EM Physicians from across the state feel a cohesive bond and support as we advocate for our patients and our speciality. I would like to see the College further develop resources to ensure that Emergency Physicians are optimally trained in more than just bedside care and can understand complicated issues such as advocating for fair and equitable reimbursement strategies, both from insurers as well as corporate medical entities and employers.
4. Please provide a brief description of family, community and professional activities, and hobbies.
I split my professional time between active EM practice in the ED and administration. Within the hospital I serve on quality, education and development committees and outside of the hospital I serve both local Fire and Police Departments as an EMS specialist. My current research and publication focuses on using ED and hospital metrics to drive operational effectiveness and culture evolution. When not in the ED or office I am outside with my family biking or playing soccer.
